Antibacterial Activity Test of Daun Ungu Ethanol Extract (Graptophyllum pictum L. Griff) Against Staphylococcus aureus Bacteria Using Diffusion Method
Daun Ungu (Grapthophyllum pictum L. Griff) is a plant that can be used as a remedy for hemorrhoids, menstruation, rheumatism, ulcers, gallstones, hepatitis and other diseases. Daun Ungu have many properties in the field of health, we can know this from its very complex chemical content. Daun Ungu (Grapthophyllum pictum L. Griff) which contains antimicrobial compounds and which has a high antimicrobial compounds and which have chemical content. The purpose of this study is to can increase knowledge and research on ethanol extracts of purple leaves (Graptophyllum pictum L. Griff), which can inhibit the growth of gram-positive bacteria. Type of This research is an experimental laboratory by using the method of wells diffusion method. This study used concentrations of 15%, 30%, 45% and 60%. Positive control (+) cloramfenikol, negative control (-) aquadest. Observation of the test screening test observations carried out can be known to have several secondary metabolite compounds, namely flavonoids, alkaloids, etc. flavonoids, alkaloids, tannins and saponins. Test results antibacterial activity of purple leaf extract (Grapthophyllum pictum L. Griff) against the growth of staphylococcus aureus bacteria obtained the diameter of the zone of inhibitory zone diameter of 15% test solution is 20 mm followed by 30% test solution which is 25 mm then followed by 45% test solution which is 33mm and finally followed by 60% test solution which is 36.33 mm. 60% test solution is 36.33 mm, while for negative control it is 0 mm and followed by positive control of 40 mm. It can be concluded that Daun Ungu extract (Grapthopyllum pictum L. Griff ) has antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus.
